SKZ Murder Mystery AU

Good day Detective,

You have been placed as lead investigator in the murder of Yang Jeongin. His body was found in an abandoned warehouse in the outskirts of Seoul. Witness states that he was last seen at a bus station after saying goodbye to a Kim Woojin. For ease of investigation, we have cleared five of the eight main suspects. Specifically, Kim Woojin, Lee Minho, Hwang Hyunjin, Lee Felix, and Kim Seungmin. All had strong and concrete alibis. We suspect that among the remaining three people, one of them is the murderer.

Let’s get investigating, Detective.

Name: Bang Chan

Alias: Chris

Age: 21

Alibi: worked at the studio but disappeared at the time of the murder

Relation to victim: Became an older brother figure to the victim when Yang was adopted.

Transcript

Detective: Bang Chan, 21, older brother to Yang once he was adopted.

Bang is obviously nervous and distressed

Bang: Y-yes?

Detective: Let’s get straight to it. Where were you from the time of 6 PM to 7 PM?

Bang: I was at the studio the whole day. W-working on a song for the company I work at.

Detective: But CCTV records show you disappeared from 6 PM and arrived back at the studio at 8 PM. One hour window from the time of Yang’s death.

Bang: A-are you accusing me? Of killing my own brother? Look, we may not be blood related but he’s still my f#@!&%g brother!

Detective: I understand, please calm down so we may find the culprit.

Bang: I-I’m sorry, I... understand.

Detective: I’m gonna give you another chance to answer. Remember, we may fact check you on your alibi in any case it may be false. Where were you from 6 PM to 7 PM?

Bang visibly gulped

Bang: I was at dance practice, at the company.

Detective: Is there anyone who can verify that?

Bang: I practice alone most of the time... But! there are CCTVs in the practice room. Please, you have to believe me! I would never kill my brother.

Detective: Okay, let’s say you didn’t kill him. Do you know anyone who would hold a grudge against him? Any enemies, fights he might’ve been involved him?

Bang: None that I know of. Jeongin’s always been sweet, he was always kind to people and I know for sure he would never hurt someone intentionally.

Detective: Did you know of the relationship between Hwang Hyunjin and the victim?

Bang: What? They were together?

Detective: So you’re saying you didn’t know they were together?

Bang: Yes.

Detective: Thank you, Bang Chan. That’s all for today.

Name: Seo Changbin

Alias: None

Age: 19

Alibi: was in the dorm the whole day, working on lyrics, though one of the producers has said that they saw him taking a bus.

Relation to victim: Schoolmate, Seo is a senior to Yang but still hung out when they meet

Detective: Good afternoon, Seo Changbin.

Seo: Good afternoon, detective.

Detective: What is your relation to Yang Jeongin?

Seo: He is- sorry, was a schoolmate of mine. He was two years younger than me but that didn’t stop us from becoming friends.

Detective: Where were you from 6 PM to 7 PM?

Seo: I was at the dorm the whole day. I produce songs, Jeongin was supposed to sing in one of them...

Detective: Specifically, what were you doing at the dorm?

Seo: I was writing lyrics.

Detective: Is there anyone who can verify that you stayed in the dorm the whole day?

Seo: My dorm mates. They left and came back and saw me in the dorm.

Detective's phone starts ringing

Detective: Excuse me one moment.

Detective answers the call. Seo looks around the interrogation room

Detective sits back down and faces Seo

Detective: You said you were at the dorm the whole day?

Seo: Yes.

Detective: Well, one of the producers at your company saw you take the bus.

Seo: That is correct. Our dorm did not have much food and the food that was left, I couldn't eat. So I took the bus to go to a restaurant.

Detective: And what is the name of this restaurant?

Seo: I don't remember. I didn't mind for the name and just wanted food.

Detective: Do you at least know the location?

Seo: I'm afraid not.

Detective gives Seo a look

Seo: I know how this looks. But, I swear, I didn't kill Jeongin. He was like a brother to me! I CARED FOR HIM! I helped him with his schoolwork. I introduced him to other people so that he won't feel lonely. Please! I DIDN'T KILL HIM!

Detective: Please, calm down. If you aren't the murderer, do you have any idea who it could be? Any enemies Jeongin might've made?

Seo: No, Jeongin was always sweet to everyone. There isn't a single bad bone in his body.

Detective: Did you know of the relationship between Hwang Hyunjin and the victim?

Seo: Of course, I was the one who introduced them.

Detective: And what do you think of their relationship?

Seo pauses before giving an answer

Seo: They were made for each other.

Detective: Thank you, you may leave.

Alias: None

Age: 18

Alibi: Was with Lee Felix helping him with his rap. Said to be driving out of Seoul at the time of the murder

Transcript

Detective: Good morning, Han Jisung.

Han: Detective, whatever you think. It wasn't me! Sure, Jeongin wouldn't clean the dishes most of the time and he wouldn't clean his room but THAT DOESN'T MEAN I KILLED HIM! Detective! Please I wouldn't kill Jeongin!

Han is near tears

Detective: Where were you from 6 PM to 7 PM?

Han: I was at the company.

Detective: What were you doing at the company?

Han: I was teaching Felix with his rap. Lee Felix is a trainee at the company and he needed help with his rap and pronunciation of some words so I thought, hey why not help him? So I stayed at the company and—

Detective: I know who Lee Felix is. Did you do anything after helping him?

Han: Well, I needed some time to relax and cool off, so I drove outside of Seoul to get some fresh air. Gosh, have you ever felt the wind in your hair? And the air isn’t the polluted one? Like one from the country side?

Detective looks unimpressed

Detective: Are you always this talkative?

Han: Sorry. It’s a habit whenever I’m overwhelmed and nervous and just full of emotion. Sorry.

Detective: Where did you go during your drive?

Han: I was at a gas station, about an hour from Seoul.

Detective: What time did you say you left?

Han: I left the company at 5:30 PM and went for the drive, y’know after helping Felix— sorry I was rambling again.

Detective: That gives you a 30 minute window to kill Yang and clean yourself off.

Han: WHAT? Detective! I didn’t kill Jeongin! I SWEAR I WAS JUST GOING FOR A DRIVE. YOU CAN CALL THE GAS STATION AND THEY’LL SAY I WAS THERE. You have to believe me! I WOULD NEVER KILL JEONGIN!

Detective: Did you know of the relationship between Hwang Hyunjin and the victim?

Han; Yes. Jeongin was my roommate. Hyunjin would always come over and they always stayed in Jeongin’s room.

Detective: And what do you think of their relationship?

Han pauses to think

Han: As long as Jeongin was happy and Hyunjin was a good boyfriend. I didn’t care and only hoped for the best for the two of them.

Detective: Thank you, that’s all for today.
